I'm in Foster City, California for work once again. So I ran my regular route that I run when I'm here. I've noticed before when I've been here that other runners don't seem to greet each other. So I made a point of saying good morning to every runner that I saw. Four out of six responded after I made the initial contact. I'm sure they wouldn't have said anything or made any acknowledgement if I hadn't said anything.

Foster City sounds better than Plano, TX. That's where I always seem to go. Way to be the nice person and engage people. It doesn't happen enough now-a-days.

I've noticed a difference in friendliness from city to city too. Way to take the friendliness with you wherever you go.

I agree, I always say "hi" to other runners, walkers and cyclists ... and in my neighborhood we all wave to each other too!

I try not to let it get to me when others don't say hi back, though sometimes it does ;-).

Way to get out there CinC!!

I'm the same way. I try to acknowledge another runners presence. We are, after all, a small percentage of society sharing a common bond. It's funny because I'm not a particularly sensitive person, but when I say hello to a passing runner and they ignore me it really kind of irks me. It must be nice to be running someplace different. Have a good trip!
