Easy run.

5:43 am, 56° F, 52% humidity, wind 5 SSE.

I ran as far as I could and still be home by 6:15. I either have to be home from my run by 6:15, or leave after 6:05 and be home by 7:00. If I'm going to take the first option, I need to start getting up earlier. It was easier to get up early last year (not that it was easy) because my husband was getting up at the same time. But now he doesn't have to get up so early. Another difference is that I'm leaving for work a good hour or hour and a half earlier now than I was last Spring when I was in marathon training. My mornings just aren't what they used to be.

It was dark for my whole run. I had to wear my head lamp for the second time this season. I tried to shine it at a driver who failed to stop behind the white line and just kept rolling. I wasn't sure (s)he was going to stop at all, and if so, where.

AP: 9:13. Splits: 9:57, 9:05, 8:45, 0.29@ 8:50.

SO glad she stopped!!! I hate those early morning cars---reflectors and head lamps aside, they just never seem to be paying attention to runners!

Could you run at night maybe?

Cars are scary. I had one yesterday who was turning left and never looked at me, not once. I had my water bottle off my hand and ready to throw at his hood if he didn't stop.

I think a lot of morning drivers assume that no one is out exercising so early and that's why they don't pay attention.

Good thing YOU were paying attention, Carolyn!

Same problem with drivers not seeing you as RAD & I have. They don't expect us out there. I think I'd like a little portable air horn to blow at them when they get too close!

You know you'll have a moon-light running buddy if you're up early...I'll just be over here instead of there :-)

My husband has been known to smack the hoods of cars (or the trunk if they really blow past him). He has scared a few drivers! I just ALWAYS assume they do not see me, but it can throw your groove off.

I am an early morning atheist - I don't believe in being awake that early! I admire those who can do it though. Good job!

I am a naturally early person, but the adjustment to dark o thirty running in winter is still tough! I have the option to use a lighted track in winter, which is a lifesaver. And, my running group has been meeting at 5:30 on Thursdays for our headlamp in the wood run. It is a hilarious start to the day!
