Easy/Moderate Run. Average pace: 8:51.

4:57 am, 57°F, 76% humidity, wind 10 SSE.

It was quite cool in my bedroom this morning with the windows open, and so I put on a long sleeved shirt. But when I got outside it was warmer than I thought it would be and I wished I had worn a short-sleeved shirt. I guess it was the wind that messed up my perception of the temperature. The wind was also a bit of a challenge while I was running.

I meant to do an easy run today, but I got going a little on the fast side. I kept up the pace because I wanted to be sure to be home in time to drive my son to seminary, and then I really poured it on at the end because I needed to get to the bathroom. Splits were 9:13, 9:06, 9:10, 9:01, 9:08, 8:36, 8:41, 8:02. I figured it wasn't a big deal to push the pace a bit today because I had an easy day yesterday and I have an easy day tomorrow.

Eight miles is about the furthest I can run in the morning before seminary unless I get up earlier, which I don't want to do. Maybe on the occasions when I have a longer run, which will be about once a week in the coming weeks, I'll tell the kid he has to walk to seminary. It won't kill him. It's less than a mile. And he's a big boy. He'll be 15 on Friday and he's nearly 6 feet tall.

I haven't slept well the last couple of nights, which is unusual for me. I think it's apprehension about waking up on time to run before seminary.

Today is my 19th wedding anniversary, and so chances are very good that I'll overeat tonight. I wish I could find a way to eat out without overeating.

**Update**

My toe felt fine during my run and I thought it was getting better. But then I put on the cheap shoes I wear to work just before I went out the door to work. Yeow! I grabbed my flip flops and stuck them in my bag. I drove to work and only made it half-way through the walk from my car to the building before I stopped and took off the shoes and put on the flip flops. So I guess the toe is still out of shape, but is happy in running shoes. It is still swollen and kind of discolored.

Blazing speed today. Way to go. Sorry about the toe. You should cut it off.

I think that might hurt worse, Craig. I'm thinking about taking a picture of it and posting the picture, but it doesn't look that weird, so I don't know if the picture would convey anything. But hey, at least I can run on it. That's all that matters!

Happy 19th! that's awesome! And I had the same problem on Saturday with the temp tricking me. Almost through my entire long run I was wishing I had worn a different shirt!

Nice run, nice pace and nice mom to get home in time to take your son to seminary.

Great pace...a time deadline always helps speed a little :) Sorry about your toe! I've been neglecting your blog and totally missed your injury. I've hit my toe on walls like that before and wondered if I'd broken it. It's never hurt beyond the next hour though. Way to get out and get going this morning! Envious of your motivation.

Wow that's an early start! Good pace for an eight miler.

My parents would have just laughed at me if I tried to get them to drive me a mile to school. You're a nice mom.

Happy Anniversary! Go ahead and enjoy eating! It's just one meal. My 19th anniv. is just a couple of weeks away too! That's a funny coincidence.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Aug 18, 2009 at 14:59:03 from 198.241.174.15

JD, I've been thinking about making him walk. I drive him because it's early. It's light and relatively warm at that time now, but before long it will be cold and dark at that time of day. Maybe I should get him in the habit of walking now. I could sleep an extra half hour if I did that.

Sno, interesting coincidence!

So glad your toe is not keeping you from running! That makes all the difference.

Enjoy your anniversary!

Happy (belated) Anniversary! Time sure can fly, almost 15 years now for Jenny and I.
