Easy Run + 3 x 8 sec. hill sprints. Average pace: 9:52.

Weather: 53°, 86% humidity, winds calm.

Today is the first day of school. Accordingly, I got out the door at 5:15 this morning. That's fine when I have a short run like today, but I'll have to be earlier some days. It looks like seminar is going to be at 6:30 (it doesn't start until next week), and so I'll have to be finished with my runs by 6:15 so I can drive Thing 2 to seminary. I had to drive Thing 1 at 6:30 this morning because he's mentoring freshmen today. So now it's back to the routine and the grindstone.

Both hamstrings were quite tight this morning, but they did loosen up a bit in the course of the run. I didn't shoot for any specific pace today. Splits were 10:13, 10:02, 9:50, 9:35, 9:29. Pace on the hill sprints was 7:00, 6:51, 7:44.

Good job Carolyn, not bad just having a little stiffness, sounds like you have the "recovery" part of training down!!

Have a good day.

Back to the grind. While I'm not looking forward to school being back in, I am happy that this is my wife's last year.

I think I hurt my neck while giving my head a mind-clearing shake... school starting? I know, it's happening, but It. Is. Summer! I should talk, I make mine study year round. But we take vacations year round too!

Man, I thought we started early (next week). Are your kids on a balanced calendar?

Oh yeah, and good run :)

From Carolyn in Colorado on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 14:40:24 from 198.241.217.15

Yes, Sno, my head is spinning from school starting so early. It's still summer, right?

Tracy, I'm not sure what you mean by a balanced calendar. My kids have a one-week fall break in October, 2 weeks off at Christmas, a one-week spring break in March, and then they get out on May 25.

I'm sure the grindstone has missed you.

Sometimes it helps keep a good running routine though.

I still can't believe I only get 2 weeks off from school and then I"m in the fall semester (my other university I would get month long breaks but we were on 16 week semesters not 15 week trimesters.

can I have your 53 degree weather? I suppose if I got up that early I could be at about 60ish...
