Easy run. Average pace: 10:18.

Outside temp: 46°F

We are having an uncharacteristically warm morning, especially considering that it was well below freezing yesterday morning and is supposed to be really cold and snowy tomorrow. So I took advantage of the break in the cold and ran outside without having to bundle up.

I did the shred level 1 before my run.

I was up late last night because I had to make up some work time (and some work). I was working until 11:00 pm and then I had a hard time going to sleep because I couldn't stop coughing. The cold I had a few weeks ago went away, but now I've got another one and this one involves a dry, hacking cough that is driving me nuts.

They are predicting snow for tomorrow morning, so it might be another treadmill day. I'll just have to see what conditions are like in the morning.

Glad you got a little thaw. I was reading about all your snow and ice yesterday. I'm just curious -- do you have any traction devices for your shoes? (Ice Joggers, Yaktrax, etc.?) I am interested in any input about running in ice & snow. We don't get a lot, but usually at least a few days of it in January & February. Last year was extremely icy but that was unusual. Thanks for your continued encouragement and friendship. :)

No, I don't have any traction devices for my shoes, but I've been thinking about putting screws in my old ones. I'm just wondering what kind of winter we're going to have and whether I really want to run outside when it's really snowy. The low temperature this coming Thursday is supposed to be 12-15, and I'm getting worried. I think it's time to extend the smartwool beyond my feet. I'm trying to wait until Christmas, but I don't know if I can wait that long.

Good for you for sticking with it in the cold. I think 46 is COLD.... good work on all your Shred workouts and steady runs. Consider taking some vitamins to build up the immune system so you can avoid these colds you are getting. Refresh my memory, what are you training for - Ogden Marathon?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:56:20

Yes, I'm training for the Ogden marathon. I'm just trying to build up mileage at this point. I'm planning to start a 20-week training plan from Run Faster by Brad Hudson at the end of December.
