Easy run. Average pace: 9:27.

Weather: 65°F, 31% humidity, wind 10 SW.

I ran the Highline Canal Trail with what might be the beginning of a running group. I ran the whole twelve with my friend Chalyce, whom I ran the Georgetown Half Marathon with last summer. We're both running it again this year. We ran the first 8 miles with my friend Michelle and her friend Michelle. They're running the Run the Rockies Half next Saturday. I've run with them a couple of times recently. And on the trail we saw another friend, Carly, running with her neighbor. If we would just get organized, we could have a nice little running group. Chalyce isn't able to run every Saturday, though, because she sometimes teaches classes at 24-Hour Fitness on Saturday morning.

The trail was quite pleasant. It got a little on the warm side, especially towards the end of the run, but it was shady in places now that the trees have leaves.

Michelle #1 wanted to push the pace a little at the end of her 8 miles, so I ran with her at around 8:00 pace for about the last 1/3 of the 8th mile. It was a bit of a struggle for her, but she did great! Splits were 9:27, 9:31, 9:32, 9:31, 9:44, 9:36, 9:38, 9:15, 9:16, 9:14, 9:26, 9:10.

Thus ends week #3 of marathon recovery/week #1 of marathon training.

Nice marathon recovery. You're very smart about it. Geez with you and Sno running with groups every Saturday, I'll have to find one so I don't fall too far behind! :-)

I won't have a running group every Saturday. Next Saturday, for example, 2 of them have a race, and the one who did all 12 with me probably won't be available because she is only occasionally available. Plus, I am the fastest runner in that group, so the group doesn't really push me. That sounds cocky. It isn't meant to be. It's just the way it is right now.

Nice run Carolyn! I'm so excited that you're back on the horse for a new marathon training session. I don't think I'm quite there yet...we'll see after WBR.

Understand about the group, I don't have that problem - the BBK's kick my TRASH every day we run!!! However, my sister has the same problem with the people she runs with. They train for marathons, but run slower than her and she gets crazy about how fast I've gotten and I tell her that its all the BBK's fault. Having someone to push your speed and endurance and training makes a HUGE difference. Just get those girls up to your speed and then see if they can in turn start to push you :)

Sounds like a really pretty run! Its fun to find the right blend of similar pace and camaraderie in running partners. I know my group really helps me push sometimes and stick with when I might on my own. You see, I really am lazy, just not when others are watching HAHA!

Wow you have a lot of people out there that you know that run! I only see runners if the weather is nice and usually they do laps around the park (only .5 mile around--boring)
