Easy run on the slow side. Average pace 10:48.

Outside temp: 36° according to my window thermometer, 27° according to the local news. Motionbased, which is getting data from a weather station closer to my house than the tv station is, says 26°. In any case, it was cold.

I think my window thermometer isn't very accurate when the temperature inside the house is much different from the temperature outside the house, that is, when it's very cold or very hot.

I got up and did week 1, day 3, level 2 of the pushup program and did level 3 of the shred before my run. I have had the luxury of doing all three of these things in the morning last Wednesday and today because the kids don't have school and I haven't been in a rush to get in to work (although I have had to come to work). However, next week when the kids are back at school I won't be able to fit in all three. I'm thinking I could do the pushup program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and the shred on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and maybe Saturdays). But then I'm not getting a full two-days of rest between pushup days because the shred has pushups in it. But it only has two sets of 8 or 9 pushups. Maybe I'll give it a try next week.

For those of you who are also doing the push up program, I'm able to do level 2 because I've been doing the shred for 6 months and so I had a head start.

Br! I think you are quite right about your window thermometer; it would definitely be affected by the thermal aura of the house.

Your strength program (MWF for pushups) sounds reasonable. But you could also do pushups at night. Just a thought. Are we supposed to get 2 days rest between days? Dang, I haven't been doing that. I have a bad habit of not reading instructions thoroughly.

I've finally moved to the 2nd week! Woohoo! But I may lose it all next week when I stop all resistance work after Wednesday as part of my taper.

Congratulations on moving up to week 2! I'll be starting week 2 next week.

I don't think you'll lose much during your taper. I was looking ahead at the instructions and you're supposed to do a test after week 2 before you start week 3 that tells you what column to follow for week 3. So I think you should do the test a couple of days before you're ready to start the program up again during the race and if you fall below the minimum needed for column 1, then go back and do week 2 again. Otherwise, continue on with week 3 at that point at whatever level your test indicates.

I meant take the test AFTER the race when you're ready to start pushups again. I sometimes think my hands aren't connected to my brain. They manage to type real words, just not the ones I'm thinking.

Cold...........brrrrrrrrrrrr! Do you have snow yet? What part of Colorado is home for you?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Fri, Nov 28, 2008 at 16:49:22

No, we don't have snow yet where I live, but they do in the mountains. We had one snowstorm a couple of weeks ago but the snow didn't stick around for long.

I live in the southern part of the Denver metro area, in an area called Highlands Ranch.
