Fartlek Run, easy w/2 min @ 10K pace every 5 minutes. Average pace: 9:10.

Weather: 40°F, 37% humidity, minimal wind.

I decided that sleep would do me more good than miles would this morning, so I didn't get up early enough to do 10 miles, which is what the planned workout was. I still got up pretty early because I had to be done in time to drive thing 1 and a string bass to school, but not freakishly early.

My paces on the 2 min fast parts were 8:20, 8:06, 8:20, 7:57, 8:15, 7:53, 7:48, 8:00, 7:49, 8:03, 7:52, 8:07. I was shooting for around 8:00, so I was fairly close, give or take a little bit.

I'm feeling pretty good for the race on Saturday. Today was my last hard workout. I'm supposed to rest tomorrow and then do 4 miles easy on Friday. I'm really looking forward to this race.

In other news, I still have just a little bit of pain in my right hand since my fall last week. It's not debilitating, but it just doesn't seem to be going completely away.

Nice run!! You are going to do so great at the half. Your are getting speedy :) Have you had the doc. look at your hand? Have you taken anything for it? I hope it gets feeling completely better soon.

Great workout, Carolyn. I was thinking about you yesterday because my DH and I were talking about how Colorado scores pretty high on an economic liberty scale he found. (statepolicyindex.com) Lucky you!

So you have a day of no running tomorrow? That's interesting. I'm going to do some miles tomorrow, fewer Friday, and take Saturday off. So glad you are not badly hurt - that would have been such a frustrating waste of great training. It's in the bank, girl!

Yes, my plan is no running tomorrow and 4 easy miles on Friday. I don't know if that's any better or worse than if I flipped today and tomorrow, but I guess I'll just try it and see what happens.

It's cool that we're both racing this weekend. Lots of people on the blog are racing this weekend.

It's really cool to have watched your pace drop in time over the last few weeks. It is clear that the training you are doing is paying off.

Congrats on the solid miles today and, once again, good luck on Saturday.

Have a nice rest time and a nice trip Carolyn!!

By the way -- I think it is a good idea to jog a little the day before the race to keep you limber ;-).

You are going to rock it ... my prediction still stands.
