I took the Sage Marion's advice and didn't do the elliptical this morning. I slept in instead.

I got a list of ART providers from Bonnie. One of them is on my insurance. I'll see if I can get my GP to refer me to him.

**Update**

It turns out I don't need a referall from my GP to go to a chiropractor (ART providers are chiropractors), so I cancelled my doctor's appointment. I called and left a message with the one ART provider who is on my insurance.

My leg feels better than yesterday and I'm not limping so much, but it still hurts.

It's probably a good thing to make sure everything is OK. You don't want to make things worse, or have a longer recovery then you have to.

That's a good sign that it feels better. Hope you can get in soon with the ART.

I just got an appointment with the ART guy for next Monday at 3:30.

Hope you get better soon. I have had good luck with physical therapy and massage in the past. Fortunately when I did go to a sports doctor, she did a few quick checks to make sure nothing was broken or might be broken then sent me down the hallway to the PT guy who turned out to be really good and nailed down the problem immediately.

In addition to fixing the immediate problem they should be able to help you avoid future problems.

Good luck and get better as soon as you can!

Good. Taking the day to sleep in is good. The appointment is good. Its probably from all those miles you put in wearing that pioneer dress and running shoes! Let us know.

I hope that leads to recovery! I'm glad you slept - that always helps!

Good news :) The best thing for it is RICE for now. Icing it about 4-6 times a day for about 20 minutes helped me a ton. Stay off of it as much as possible. For me, it turned out that I was a toe runner and all of the hills I run were the cause of the problem. I have orthotics now and the calf problems are gone :) I didn't have to move to a less hilly place either ;D

(For icing- i made an ice pack and then put a paper towel against my calf, thent he ice pack, then I wrapped it with an ace bandage to hold it in place.)

Thanks for the tips, Marion. I'll have to ice it when I get home tonight. I don't have the means to do the icing thing when I'm at work. Good thing the weekend is coming.

Dang!!! I've been away too long. With family in town I've neglected my blogging and didn't know about your calf! I hope that the doc will help, when I've gone to PT's I always come out stronger and with better, stronger form. I hope the guy you go to does well for you!!

From marion on Mon, Jul 27, 2009 at 18:34:11 from 71.213.106.139

how are you feeling?? What did the doc ssay??

From Carolyn in Colorado on Mon, Jul 27, 2009 at 22:49:30 from 71.229.164.25

He said it was the deeper muscle in the quad, the soleus or whatever, that was the problem. He pushed and poked it for a while. It's been feeling pretty good today and I jogged a short distance in the park tonight and it didn't hurt, so I might try a short easy run tomorrow morning.

I'm going back on Wednesday to get pushed and poked again.

Was it your quad or your calf?

YEAH FOR HEALING :)

From RAD on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 00:26:14 from 67.166.99.8

How did it all go? Did you get your jog in? I hope you're doing well!
