Long run.

7:28 am, 29-40° (it really warmed up over the course of my run), 30% humidity, wind 4 SSE.

I normally meet up with the Michelles at 7:30 on Saturday mornings, but I wanted to sleep in a bit, and so I pushed it back to 8:00. But I was running to Michelle's house, so I had to leave just before 7:28 (it would have been before 7:00 if I hadn't changed the time). I ran about 3.5 miles to Michelle's house. They were standing in the road waiting for me when I got there, so I just kept running and they joined me when I got to them. We took a hilly route that Michelle had run once before. It went through a couple of neighborhoods that I had not been in before, and I was impressed that she didn't get lost.

We ran 8 miles together and then I took a 2.5 mile route back home. On my way back, I saw Barbie out walking. I've seen her quite a bit recently, but it's usually when I'm driving kids to school in the morning. This is the first time in a while that I've seen her while I've been running.

When I got home I came into my house and changed into my VFFs. I had a nice little 1/2 mile route in my neighborhood and I was just going to do that, but after I did that I was feeling good and decided to do it again. My husband was waiting for me when I got home because I told him it would only be 5 minutes, but it turned out to be 10. I had a quick shower and then we went to IHOP. I like pancakes after a long run sometimes.

I'm hoping that we get no new snow and get some thawing the next week so that we can run on the trail next Saturday. I'm a little tired of pounding the streets all the time.

Very nice run! How do you like the VFFs?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 15:48:57 from 24.8.167.243

They feel fine once I get them on. Getting them on is a bit tricky.

Woah, VFFs? I didn't even know you had a pair. That is cool.

I love pancakes after long runs too. Mmmmmmmm.

We had waffles this morning - extra syrup! Great run this morning - how fun to have so many running buddies!

Wow great run! I really need to start cranking up my mileage, just a bit worried with my buggy knee. MMMM pancakes sound good :)

Wow 58 miles this week! You are my hero!

Nice long run. Hopefully you get that thawing this week. I'm hoping for that myself!

Barbie's back! How I've missed her. Nice run. I'm slightly intimidated by the VFF's for some reason.

VFF'S! HOW COOL!

From Michelle on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 19:56:05 from 63.227.3.181

I'm glad you could get pancakes after your run and some time with the VFF. Who is Barbie? I don't think I know who you are talking about. Wow, I just looked at our time, we were really slow. Sorry to hold you back.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 20:12:55 from 24.8.167.243

Don't worry, Michelle. Slow is good. It was a really hilly route and then there were the snowy parts too. And maybe the slowness is why I felt good enough to do a mile in the VFFs when I got home.

Barbie is this woman who's impossible skinny and who has big poofy blond hair and full make-up who I see out walking frequently in the mornings, usually on the green belt south of my neighborhood. That's where I saw her today. I don't know what her name really is. I just call her Barbie because she looks like a Barbie doll.

Nan, I got the VFFs just before Christmas. This was only my second run in them.

From The Quiet Pirate on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 22:03:42 from 65.191.134.20

Nice run. I hope you get good weather and can get back on the trail too. I've missed mine due to "rifle hunting."

You are hard core running on icy streets and side walks. One slipply step, and I'd be on my rear. I guess you get a strong core having to stay stable on the uneven grounds.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are VFF's?

From Kelli on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 22:33:45 from 71.219.89.82

Very nice job on the run today!!! And pancakes after running sound divine.

I will pray for no new snow for you---send it out way, we need to clear out the air!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 23:38:18 from 24.8.167.243

QP - VFFs are Vibram Five Fingers.

Kelli - I'd be happy to send snow your way, but the weather seems to move from west to east, not the other way around. Maybe you can get some lake effect snow and keep it there and not send it here.

From RAD on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 01:25:46 from 67.172.229.125

Nice run as always! I only have one question...sometimes? After a good shower and cool down I would ALWAYS be in the mood for pancakes, especially IHOP.

From Kelli on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 19:24:29 from 71.219.89.82

I think we get some snow on Wednesday, hopefully it stays warm, though!

From Smooth on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 21:49:35 from 174.23.217.47

NICE run! Very cool for the VFFs!! EXTRA NICE with the pancakes afterwards! Hope you get to run on trail this week!
