On the treadmill again today and I went a little faster than yesterday, with more of it at 9:14 pace and about 5 minutes at 8:56 pace.

It turns out that our car is totaled, and so we have to buy a new car. We don't know yet how much we're going to get from the insurance company for the old car. I really didn't want to buy a new car right now, but oh well.

Also, it turns out I dropped my cell phone in the driveway last night when I was getting stuff out of the trunk of the car. It sat in the driveway over night and I might or might not have run over it this morning when I drove to work to run on the treadmill. It doesn't appear to be crushed, but it's not working.

I've just got all kinds of hassles and expenses that I didn't want right now.

If the phone hasn't been run over, try charging it. Cold temps are death to batteries. Hope that works out. So sorry about your car.

I did try charging it. At first it did nothing, then it looked like it was trying to charge, then I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't and it stopped charging and did nothing. I'll take it into the Sprint store this morning. Maybe it just needs a new battery. I don't know whether it got run over or not.

Yikes! I hope you can save your phone!

BTW, how do you like training on the tread mill? Do you have TV or radio to keep your mind occupied?

My phone was dead. They swapped me out a new phone for $35. But they couldn't get any data off of my old phone since it wouldn't power up, so my address book is lost. I have to try to recreate it manually.

Deborah, I find the treadmill pretty boring. I have an mp3 player (it's a SanDisk Sansa) and I recently downloaded some audio books from the library on it and that helps. The treadmill is in the fitness center at my office and there is a t.v. suspended from the ceiling. When I got there this morning, some other people were there and they had the t.v. on to CNN with the sound up really loud. I wanted to listen to my book, not watch CNN, so I had to crank up the sound on my Sansa to hear the book over the sound of the t.v. and the sound of the treadmill.

You know, I've turned to books as well. Do you have any suggestions? I've found the book Sea Biscuit good to run to.

I've also run to the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Each book is about 40 hours long so it keeps me going on several long runs.

Take a deep breath............. Everything will be okay!!!

The latest, and the thing that has me more stressed than anything else, is that the other party in the accident is claiming an injury of some part. Note that both of the people in the other car walked away from the crash. We have $50,000 in insurance against personal injury. I'm just worried that they'll hire a personal injury lawyer and try to claim that they need more than that and sue us for all we're worth and force us to declare bankruptcy and destroy my family.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Dec 16, 2008 at 14:53:07

I meant "an injury of some kind," not "an injury of some part." I can't type.

I love the Wheel of Time series. Don't be disappointed that the last book (which comes out next year) is NOT written by the original author.

But Carolyn, I'm sorry about all the unexpected expenses--I get depressed when that happens, especially because it seems to happen right when you've dug your way out of the last time you had unexpected expenses.
