Progression Run - 11 miles w/ last 15 min. moderate. Average pace: 9:12.

7:35 am: 63° at start, 71° at end, 50% humidity, winds calm.

I met with the group at the Highline Canal Trail again. This was week 2 of the group. We had 2 new people today, for a total of 5, including myself. The Michelles wanted to go 6 and the other two were thinking of 4, but were maybe up to 6. At mile 2, which would have been the turnaround for those going 4, they decided they could do 6. So we turned around after 3 miles. The first 6 miles went by pretty fast and pleasantly with people to talk to. When we got back to the start, I continued on the other direction for my remaining 5 (2.5 out and back). Splits for the first 9 miles were 9:34, 9:16, 9:19, 9:32, 9:32, 9:44, 9:19, 9:26, 9:20. Average pace for the 15 minutes moderate was 7:59.

I had my not-Pod but just had the headphones hung around my neck during the first 6 miles since I was with other people. After I left them, I put the headphones on, but it was tough because my ears were already sweaty and I had a hard time getting the headphones to stay in. They are the wrap-around-the-ear kind, but I still struggle with them, probably because the ear piece from my glasses gets in the way.

My oldest son's band is playing in a Battle of the Bands tonight, so we'll be going to that.

I hope that everyone who's racing today is having a great day.

Nice run today. I struggle with the ear things all the time. The buds because my ears get sweaty (I know gross) and the wrap around ones because of my sunglasses. I love running with music when I'm not with people... Oh well. Have fun with your son at the battle of the bands. Sounds fun!

I hate it when those darn things will not stay in your ears!!!

Nice work, love the weather---perfect temps to start.

Good luck with Battle of the Bands, do not forget some ear plugs!!!

Nice run. I've never used an I-pod, or not-pod (I think that is so funny), on a run before. On the treadmill at home I'll listen to the stereo and there have been a couple of times when just the right song came on at just the right time and really helped. I'm too paranoid of traffic etc. to use one on the run.

Is it "Golden Ticket" that he's playing with tonight? Wish him luck!

Yep, JD, it's Golden Ticket. And yes, Kelli, I will take ear plugs. This one is in a big arena, so it shouldn't be as bad as the dive we went to last time.

Nice run today. Your miles for the week are wicked-good.

Great run today! Glad to hear that your group is growing. Definitely makes those runs go by faster even if they only run some of the miles with you.

I'm glad your group is growing. You sure have some speed when you want it.

Nice work! I must agree that having people around makes the miles fly by! You had some nice splits and great job on the sub 8's at the end!!
