Long run.

7:34 am, 31-45°F, 18-12% humidity, wind calm/2 WSW.

I ran out to the 4.5 milepost on the Highline Canal Trail and back twice, the first time with Michelle and Michelle. They were planning to do 8 miles today, but I talked them into doing 9 so that I would be half done when they finished. I took a short break/pit stop in the rec center after finishing with them and going out for the second time.

About 50% of the trail is covered with snow and/or ice. On my second time out and back, some of the sections with just a little ice had turned muddy.

18 miles is never easy for me. I'm glad to be done. It was nice to have friends and conversation for the first half of the run. I listened to music for the second half.

I imagine it was even harder to finish the last half after having such good company. Way to stick to it. Those are big miles.

What a great long run for the conditions!

Good job getting the run done! Also, good job speeding up after the slow pokes left. I hope you have a restful day today.

Great long run, and a pretty substantial negative split. It takes a lot of mental toughness to go back out and run the second half on the same out and back course.

I wish you were here so we could do those long runs together, they are never easy especially without company! You are such an amazing runner, dedicated and smart!

Have a great weekend!

You are one tough runner! Another cold snowy and icy run with some mud thrown in. Nice to have some friends along, that always helps.

Wow...amazing split times. Especially nice on that last mile.

Congrats on a nice tough run.

Nice miles!! Great dedication!

Great run! You had great splits even though you only had company for 1/2. Next time you should try running with people for the second half instead of the first.

But then again, that would probably mean getting up at a crazy time, and who wants to do that on a Saturday after doing it all week? :)

From Smooth on Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 16:52:11 from 174.23.198.220

NICE run and FAST splits especially on snow, ice and mud! Always wonderful to have company on long runs, helps to make the miles go by fast!

Solid training as always! :)
