Tempo run. 2 miles easy, 4 miles @ 1/2M to 10K pace, 2 miles easy. Level 3 shred.

4:50 am, 36°F, 53% humidity, very slight SE wind at times.

I managed to get out and run before the cold front came in. It looks like the temperature is starting to drop, and we're supposed to be positively frigid tomorrow. I saw several runners out before 6 am this morning and that surprised me. Maybe it's the New Year's Resolution crowd.

I didn't sleep really well last night. I started waking up periodically at about 2:30. I was paranoid because I needed to get out to run early enough to be done in time to drive to seminary, and I haven't driven to seminary or run that early in several weeks.

I kind of a struggled on the first couple of miles of my tempo run and felt like I couldn't get going as fast as I thought I should. I wanted to hit 8:00 pace on those miles, but couldn't. Maybe it was because those miles were net uphill, or maybe I just don't do well with a tempo run the day after a 10 mile run. Maybe I need to switch my schedule around a little. I finally got going on the last tempo mile because I was going downhill by that time.

Good run! You weren't that far off of 8 min pace on those two uphill miles! Nicely done.

Hope you sleep better tonight. I have those same issues much of the time when I have things on my mind.

Nice job getting out this morning. I failed miserably (although I didn't really plan on it). I woke up at 5:50 and was wide awake. I should have just gone. Instead, I went back to sleep and then woke up at 6:40 with a headache and soreness. Weird. I'm jealous of your dedication.

Nice run today! I think you pace is pretty good for being a up hill portion of your run, and the day after a ten miler! You are amazing :)

I'm in awe of your dedication too. You had some great reasons to stay in bed and whimp out, but you didn't. That's what makes you so awesome.

Great times on your run, especially after your 10 miles (that would make it harder).

Good work on getting out before the big freeze today too! Sounds like you're in for a fun time.

4:50 AM! Runners are insane!!!

You're average pace for the 4 mile tempo was 8:05, which is right in the middle of your 1/2M and 10K pace. Mission accomplished.

I just thought I'd let you all know that the description of the local weather on wunderground right now is Freezing Fog. I'm glad I got out and ran when I did. The weather is much worse now.

Freezing Fog- that's a new one for me. I'm glad you got out early too. FF sounds dangerous.

You are amazing! Good job getting out so early and getting it done. You have some serious self motivation. I am glad you were able to run before it got cold. Also, you pace looks great.

I'm with the crowd on the paces - look good to me! That early, the cold and a 10 miler yesterday all seem like reasonable explanations for not getting up to pace right at first.

Great job on the dedication and beating the freezing fog...glad I just have to deal with freezing haze :)

From Nan Kennard on Wed, Jan 06, 2010 at 23:02:26 from 174.51.250.151

Yeah, kudos on the 4:50 a.m. (wow) and 8:05 pace is solid!
