Easy run + level 1 shred.

6:12 am, 61° F, 50% humidity, winds 10 S.

I found out on Saturday that a woman named Lindsay, who just moved into my ward, runs some. Actually, she called it jogging, but maybe that's because she usually pushes a jogging stroller when she runs. I tried to find out her typical pace from her but she would only time me that she usually ran for a half hour or 45 minutes, but wouldn't say her distance or pace. I offered to meet up with her for a run this morning, but I didn't know what I was in for. Her house is about a mile away from mine, but I ran 1.9 miles to get there. I hit the lap button at that point because I wanted to track my pace with her separately from my pace alone. She started out a little faster than I expected, but then we slowed down. We ran through neighborhoods and through Cheese Ranch Park, which is not my usual route. We crossed paths with Michelle in Cheese Ranch Park, so that was nice. It was good to see Michelle out running.

We got back to Linday's house and had been gone for a little less than a half hour, and she wanted to run a little more, so she ran with me almost all the way to my house (taking the one mile route) and then we parted ways and I ran the rest of the way home, about .2 miles, by myself. I didn't hit the lap button for that.

It's exciting to get another runner in the area. Maybe we can get our Saturday morning group going again.

GA run.

6:20 am, 70° F, 33% humidity, wind 12 S, sunny.

I know a lot of you run in hotter temperatures and much more humidity, but this felt quite warm to me this morning. I got really sweaty.

My current thinking is that I'll do easy runs on M, W, and F, and then push either the pace or the distance on Tuesday and Thursday. I don't have a lot of this this morning (still busy at work) so I decided to push the pace instead of the distance. I kept a relatively steady effort the whole time, but some miles were faster than others based on the terrain. So a couple of the miles landed below my 8:30 fast mile designation. They were downhill miles.

I haven't been keeping up on blogs very well. I apologize. This working hard all day is doing me in.

AP: 8:50. Splits: 9:43, 8:54, 8:46, 8:25, 8:44, 8:26.

Easy run + level 1 shred.

5:58 am, 70° F, 38% humidity, wind 5 SSE.

My plan this morning was to run 3 miles to where Michelle starts her run and time it so that I got there a little after she did and then catch up with her and run with her for a while. But I got out the door a few minutes later than I had intended, and so I couldn't see her when I got to that point. I kept running at an easy pace until I went around a corner and then I could see someone that I thought was her quite a ways ahead. So I picked up the pace quite a bit until I caught up with her. Then I ran with her for a little over a mile and then we parted ways and I headed home. It was nice to visit with Michelle. I haven't done that in a long time.

I figure that my fast portion qualified as fast miles, but I'm not sure because my Garmin died about 3 minutes into my run. I must have left it on accidentally yesterday or something. I estimated my total distance and the distance that I ran fast using mapmyrun.com. I know roughly how long (in terms of time) I ran, but not precisely. But based on my rough estimates of time and distance, I think my average pace was about 9:35.

Recovery run, though I'm not sure what I'm recovering from + level 1 shred.

6:18 am, 70° F, 44% humidity, wind 9 S.

Instead of trying to chase Michelle from behind, I ran towards her and met up with her, which she wasn't expecting. A few minutes later, her neighbor Michelle caught up with us, so the three of us ran together for a little while, and then I split off from them.

I ran recovery pace today. I'm not sure why. I guess I'm recovering from my hard day off from running yesterday. I guess my low mileage lately is a compromise between high mileage and quitting all together.

Easy run.

I've decided that I have to arrange to meet someone for a run on Saturday mornings because otherwise I will sleep in until it's so hot that I can't bring myself to go for a run. So I arranged to meet Michelle #2 at the Highline Canal Trail at 7:00 this morning. She was thinking of 4-6 miles and I was thinking of 6-8, so we compromised and ran 6. I don't know her as well as I know some of the other people I run with, but it was nice to visit with her. She wants to start meeting at the trail regularly on Saturday mornings again, so I guess I'll do that. Maybe I can recruit some other people to come too.

There was a huge crowd of Team in Training people there today. (So now look for an add for Team in Training on this page since I've mentioned them.) I noticed that most of them were women. We joked about eating their unattended Power Bars when we got back to the start, but didn't do it.

Once again, I'm done with my run early on a Saturday morning. I guess that's what happens when I only run 6 miles.

Maybe I'll try to increase my mileage just a little bit next week. We'll see how things go at work. I'm still working long hours.

AP: 9:35. Splits: 9:34, 9:24, 9:29, 9:31, 9:41, 9:50.
